Stop and Talk

9th November 2011

Invensys Rail’s manufacturing operations have reached the remarkable milestone of over two million hours without a lost time injury. The last such injury occurred in 2007.

Their bespoke safety culture change programme, named Stop and Talk, focuses on creating effective safety engagement at every level. It was created in partnership between JOMC and Westinghouse Rail Systems (now part of the Invensys Rail group) in 2008.

Invensys Rail are multinational leaders in state of the art railway control and communication systems. They help railway operators to meet ever-increasing demand for rail services with solutions that safely increase the capacity of their networks through increased frequency and maximum operational effectiveness.

OSHE Manager Derek Boulton at Invensys Rail believes that this fine safety record is due to three factors:

“Employees who are well informed on safety and health matters, leaders who set the right example, and having the right resources to challenge the way we approach safety. All this is supported by the successful Stop and Talk safety programme, which targets unsafe behaviours in the workplace, and the commitment of everyone to reduce the risks of accidents.”
